about bambuza vietnam bistro

Daniel Nguyen and his mother, Lan Quach, founded Bambuza Vietnam Bistro in Seattle in 2002 after deciding that they wanted to start an authentic Vietnamese restaurant inspired by family recipes. Lan Quach grew up in Rach-Gia, Vietnam, and is a part of one of the first Vietnamese families to relocate to Portland after the Vietnam war in 1975.

Over the years, Daniel's wife and partner Katherine Lam - who is from Bien-Hoa, Vietnam - worked in the kitchen alongside Quach, refining those original recipes and developing her own with a made-from-scratch philosophy.

After Bambuza Seattle was off the ground (sold in 2010), Katherine was excited to move back to Portland to be closer to her own family. In 2008, Katherine and Daniel moved to Portland to open their second location at Portland's South Waterfront district and a year later, one in Tualatin.

Bambuza is run by Daniel, Katherine and their family, who take great pride in bringing their native cuisine to their home in Oregon.
